Description
Horn coral fossil heads and stems from the Devonian age,,380 million years ago called Rugosa or Tetracoralla coral,,long ago extinct,,sized approximately 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch long by 1 to 2 inch wide in 1/2 pound lots scooped from coral as pictured. These coral heads and stem pieces are nice and clean so the insides and outside features can be seen nice. These coral most likely came from large colonies of coral that now are found in fossil beds in Nelson county Kentucky,USA. The coral has long ago agatized or fossilized but still retains the coral pattern and button head and that is what makes these pieces unique in the horn coral family.
